Big Head, Little body

Max had his 12 month check up this past Friday and he is a healthy, growing boy! He had to get 3 shots, plus we added the flu shot, so he had a total of 4 shots, 2 in each leg. He was a trooper! I think he liked all the band aids they put on him. He weighs 20.5 pounds (15% percentile), 28 inches long (5% percentile) and his head is in the 75% percentile. The doctor joked that he has bruises on his forehead because his little body can't hold up his big head. Ha! Ha! He is growing well and continues to move up the growth chart at every check up. He walks everywhere now, still running into things and bumping his head, knees, arms, etc..but he always gets back up and keeps playing.
We got the ok from the doctor to move Max to a new car seat that faces forward. He loves being able to see out the window, plus he has his own cup holder for his juice, what more could a boy ask for?

1st Birthday!

Max turned 1 on August 14, so we celebrated with a huge birthday cookout on August 8. We had close to 70 people come, 5 grills going, and we opened 35 gifts!! Thanks again to my dad and uncle Mark for grilling all the meat, it was delicious! The day was hot and humid, but we were thankful that it did not rain. Max received so many great gifts, but I have to say his favorite is his ball popper from pops and grandma. He enjoyed the cake, but fell asleep while eating it. He had a long day! He is walking everywhere, hitting his head on everything, but he gets better everyday. Only 9 more weeks until his little sister, Molly, arrives!

Drunk Monkey!

Max has been trying to walk on his own for the past few weeks. He takes about 10 steps, and then falls down. He also loves to cruise from one piece of furniture to the next. We know he will definitely be walking by the time his baby sister arrives. I think he looks like he's had one too many!!

Chicago Trip

Damon has been traveling to Chicago for close to a year and a half and Max and I finally went to visit him. Chicago is a great city with so much to do, see, and eat! We had great weather all week, so Max and I toured the city during the day and met up with Damon when he got off work. We went to Navy Pier, where we ate dinner and took a skyline boat tour at sunset. Shopped on Michigan Ave., went to the Lincoln Park Zoo, and had dinner at a cafe in Millenium Park. Max loved seeing Damon everyday for lunch and dinner. He especially loved having Daddy give him a bath, bottle, and put him to bed and I liked having the help at night. So this is what it feels like to have both parents at home every night....pretty nice!

The guys at the picnic

Oxmoor Country Club had their annual 4th of July picnic on Friday July 3rd. We invited our friends, the Lesshaffts and Sanfords to join us for the festivities. There was swimming, music, lots of food, pony rides, moonbounce, and of course fireworks. I didn't think Max would stay awake for the fireworks, which started at 10pm, but he made it and enjoyed them. The next night we went to Mark and Diane's for a cookout and more fireworks. Max made it halfway through the firework show and then fell asleep on Damon's lap.

Old man with his walker

My cousin Jessica and Thad were nice enough to give us a walking toy that their little girl Elizabeth was no longer using. Max loves it and looks so funny walking with it. It plays music and sings songs which he loves, but I'm not a big fan. Damon says he looks like an old man with his walker.
