This past Saturday we celebrated Max's 2nd birthday at our house. We had to change the location of the party from Pump it Up to our house, since Max has a broken nose and stitches. The Docter didn't think it was a good idea to have Max jumping in a moonbounce and we agreed. The weather was decent, sunny and warm with low humidity. Two waterslides, a pinata, pizza, cupcakes, ice cream, family and friends made this day great! Max's buddy Truman couldn't wait to eat a cupcake, so he sang happy birthday to himself and then dove into the chocolate icing. It was hilarious! At one point during the party Max was sitting at the picnic table high fiving all the girls. He is a ladies man. The next morning he got to open his gifts and let's just say he has enough cars and trains to entertain him for a long time.
4th of July weekend we packed up the car and headed north to Chicago for a week of fireworks, sightseeing and hanging out with Damon. A few weeks later Molly had her first plane ride to New Mexico. We went to visit Uncle Hunter in Santa Fe, where he is doing an internship at the Santa Fe Opera. Max was great on the way there, but threw a huge temper tantrum on the flight back. The passengers hated us. We saw lots of cool things in Santa Fe and ate tons of guacamole and drank lots of margaritas. A week later Max took his first trip to the emergency room. Apparently he was running with a small metal trashcan, tripped and fell into the edge of the can. He fractured the cartlidge in his nose and had to get 20 plus stitches underneath. He was tough and came home and ate hummus and ice cream. Luckily the nose will heal itself and the cut won't scar. This is probably the first of many ER visits with Mad Max!
So far June has been filled with Church picnics, The Jefferies coming to visit, pool time, and get togethers with friends. Max has a new found love of moon bounces, Molly loves the pool and splash park, and Damon and I enjoyed hanging out with friends at Downs after Dark. Sara and the kids were in town and we were busy all week with activities as well as Max getting croup, Harper having a virus, and Graham getting an ear infection. Glad to say everyone is well now, and we look forward to our trip to Chicago and New Mexico in July!
Max is officially in his big boy bed. He finally figured out how to climb out of his crib. I freaked out and had pops come over to convert the crib into a toddler bed. I was a little worried at first that he would roll out of bed in the middle of the night, or get up and play. He loves his new bed and has no problem going right to sleep. I put a gate outside his door to at least keep him in his room. In the morning he gets up and stands at the door and waits for me, or grabs a book and reads. Max is also loving the pool, splash park, sprinkler...anything with water. The kid doesn't stop....EVER!! That's probably why he sleeps so well.
